Riccardo Bertacco was born in 1968 in Varese, Italy. He graduated in Electronic Engineering at Politecnico di Milano in 1994 and initially worked in the R&D of BTicinico as circuit designer. From fall 1994 to 1996 we worked as volunteer in Cameroun, within a program granted by the Ministero Affari Esteri. He got his PhD in Physics in 2000 at Politecnico di Milano. In 2001 he worked in the group of J. P. Contour and A. Fert (Nobel Laureate for Physics 2007) as visiting researcher.
Since 2005, he was associate professor at the Physics Department of Politecnico di Milano, where he leads the Nanomagnetim for Biology and Spintronics group (NaBiS). Since 2018, he is Full Professor. He is the Director of the clean-room (PoliFab) for micro and nanofabrication of POLIMI.
He is currently coordinating 3 granted projects. He is author of 115 papers in international journals, two chapters of books and 7 patent applications.
Current H-index: 28 (Scopus).
He gives annual courses of classical physics, an advanced course on “Nanomagnetism and spintronics” and lectures in PhD schools.
